7:00 PM - 8:30 PMzoomTitle: Climate Hanukkah: A Just Transition from the Miracle of Oil
When: Tues, Nov 30, 7-8:30
Where: Berkeley Hillel
Join us on the third night of Hanukkah to talk about how we can make a just transition from fossil fuels to renewables. We will start with Jewish learning from Rabbi Maya Zinkow about climate justice and Hanukkah, and then learn about a new effort in California to limit the development of new oil and gas wells. This proposed oil and gas rule is focused on reducing public health impacts which mostly hit low income communities of color. At the end of the event, we will have the opportunity to take action to support strong regulations to implement the new rule and move towards a just transition. This will be an in-person event with the option to attend by zoom as well. Co-sponsored by Congregation Netivot Shalom, Berkeley Hillel, and others.
